Have you ever heard of a religious scouting club?
Probably many of us have heard of scouting clubs such as boy
scouts, girl scouts and cub scouts. But would you believe that
there is a religious scouting club?
The Pathfinder Club is a religously oriented scouting club that
belongs of a christian denomination. This club has grown to be a
worldwide group not just in the US but including in Asia, Middle
East, Europe, Africa, Australia, and the North and South America.
In the US alone, this club is under the supervision of the
Seventh Day Adventist Church. However in some countries, this
club is under a denominational school. Its memberships include
both boys and girls aging from 10 years old to 16 years old.
Most of their activities are almost similar to boy scouting,
girl scouting, and cub scouting, except that the club is
religiously oriented and their activities are Christ centered.
So this club also teaches their children to do knot tying, stars
and constellations, camping, orientering and a lot more. But
these kids are also trained to participate in church activites
and community service.
The children have also been taught to learn of Biblical
teachings as part of character building and to be good citizens
of the society.
This organization had their worldwide camporee in August 2004
which was held in Oshkosh, Wisonsin, USA. This camporee,
sponsored by the North American Division Pathfinders Club had
been attended by many clubs from the different parts of the
world.
What is fascinating is that membership is open to all children
who are interested. An example of a local club is the CFC Pathfinder club
which located in Los Angeles, CA, USA.
