Corporation HQ in Ohio

Lance Winslow
filed under "Business"

Ohio has 28 of the fortune 500 HQs there. Many corporations have picked Ohio for its regulatory policies in the past and Corporations have been willing to hang their hat there; some come and some go, but in this decade is the first time they have a net loss of Corporate HQs in Ohio. Some was due to the Tech Bubble where many companies dropped off. Yet the fortune 1000 listings Ohio is about equal or better.

All in all many parts of Ohio have found a net loss in populations like much of the upper Midwest states. Their solution “raise sales tax?” hoping to make up the balance of expenditures and economies of scale by inviting more companies to leave. Many great things have been created in Ohio and in Akron if you tour the Rubber Barons Gardens, Goodyear World of Rubber Museum, Dayton Aviation and Air Force Museums you can surely agree.

The Corporations of Ohio are all leading edge in so many things from Aero Space to Medicine, such a tradition itself is alone enough to propel the state. We are bullish on OH over all. There are a few things we do not like as business people of which some are being addressed and every state is a compromise, that is not good or bad, it just is. Some of the issues with Ohio are the Union issues, the changing of the US dominance in manufacturing, the over regulation of trucking and OSHA standards there, weather, etc.

Corporations have found ways to work around these things and for the most part are happy with their chosen Corporate Ohio Headquarters.
