LatviaThe Republic of Latvia is a small country with a population of about 2,300,000 people. The nation is located by the Baltic Sea, which is near Finland and Russia. Latvia is bordered by Estonia and Lithuania. Together, all three, comprise a region called the Baltic States. The nation's capital is Riga. The type of government is a parliamentary democracy, which was created after Latvia voted to secede from the former USSR in 1991. Major industries include the manufacturing of transportation vehicles, electronics, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and processed foods.
