Major Labels

This category is for record labels that are a part of the following "Big 5" major labels:

BMG (Bertelsmann Music Group) and all distributed BMG labels
EMI-Capitol and all distributed EMI-Capitol labels
Vivendi Universal and all distributed Universal labels (including the former Polygram labels now owned by Vivendi Universal)
Sony and all distributed Sony labels
Warner Music Group (Warner, Elektra, and Atlantic; aka WEA) and all Warner distributed labels

There is a pending merger of the music units of Sony and Bertelsmann into a single co-owned unit named Sony BMG; once this actually happens the two categories will be merged and what was once the "Big 6" will be reduced to the "Big 4."
